After careful exploration we settled on an IPA. And so, once again, we swapped barrels and matured Jameson in their seasoned barrels. Our curiosity paid off. Our signature smoothness was still there, but rubbing shoulders with IPA introduced light hints of hops, fresh citrus and floral notes.

However, unlike the rest of our range, the bourbon barrels undergo an additional charring. It’s a painstaking process, but we hope you’ll agree that it’s worth the extra effort. Black Barrel delivers the signature smoothness of Jameson Original, with enhanced spice, nutty notes, vanilla sweetness and sherry fruit.
Nose – One of the best noses in the business, Billy picks out butterscotch and creamy, toffee fudge from the grain whiskey, peppery notes from the pot still whiskey, and ripe succulent fruits like nectarines, apricot and ripe apples from the sherry casks.
Taste – Billy describes the flavour as intense and enhanced – the grain whiskey in specially flame charred bourbon barrels delivers more concentrated spice, nutty notes and vanilla sweetness, while the pot still whiskey in sherry casks adds sherry fruit flavours.

$69.99Add to cartA very popular Irish Whiskey, especially north of the border. Its popularity is not surprising as its high malt content and well aged components make it a superb drop. Soft and peaty on the nose, full and smooth on the palate with a fine sherry background and sweetish spice on the finish. Distilled and aged in Co. Antrim this is a blend consisting of 75% malt and 25% grain whiskies, the high proportion of the flavoursome malt in the blend gives it weight and richness. The malt used is triple distilled and soft, being given extra smoothness by aging for 8 years in oak casks. The grain spirit used is smoothed by long barrel age, a portion of this being made with unmalted barley. The whiskey was diluted to 40% abv before bottling.
