The Select is the latest addition to the famous Islay distillery of Laphroaig’s core range. Laphroaig is well known for its very peaty and smoky style of single malts and the Select will sit alongside the classic 10 years old, Quarter Cask, Triple Wood and 18 years old expressions. The whiskies used to create the Select have been selected by Laphroaig’s Master Distiller John Campbell and come from a number of different American and European oak cask types. However, the main difference in this release is the use of new American oak casks in the final maturation.

The 15 Year Old’s distinctive character is the result of selective maturation; a proportion of the spirit is matured in a selection of French oak casks for a limited period, so as not to overpower the final result. The French oak increases the intensity of the whisky, resulting in a richer and creamier finish.

First-fill Oloroso sherry oak casks from Jerez add richness and luxury. The Nàdurra range uses traditional 19th-century production methods to create inventive and original whiskies. This version is matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry oak casks from the Spanish region of Jerez. The sherry-soaked wood introduces the rich, sultry flavours of dried fruit and warm spice. Nàdurra Oloroso, like all expressions in the range, is bottled and released in small batches, and, unlike most modern whiskies, is non-chill filtered so has all the body you would expect from a whisky that has been drawn straight from the cask. It’s a bright, vivacious gold liquid, with aromas of dried fruit and spice. To drink, it’s smooth and creamy with chocolate and marmalade.

The Nàdurra First Fill is drawn from casks made of American white oak which have never before been used to mature Scotch whisky. These oak casks, which distillers at The Glenlivet have favoured since the early 1900s, impart hints of creamy vanilla to this wonderfully rich single malt. You’ll really taste the effects of that white oak, beautifully complemented by sweet pear, tropical pineapple, ripe banana and citric sparkle. This is a cask-strength single malt that represents the skill of our team and the tradition of The Glenlivet.
